During the transportation of large-diameter ball bearings (exceeding 50 mm), fretting corrosion is a common occurrence. The following preventive measures are provided for users' reference:

1. Do not expose stationary bearings to vibrating environments.

2. Consider installing vibration-damping pads.

3. Use lubricants with resistance to fretting corrosion.

4. Periodically rotate standby equipment.

5. Adopt appropriate bearing designs suitable for vibrating environments.

The following are illustrative examples of several common cases of fretting corrosion in ball bearings.

When a bearing is exposed to a vibrating environment while stationary, fretting corrosion indentations appear on the inner and outer rings of the ball bearing at the pitch circle.

When thrust ball bearings are exposed to a vibrating environment while stationary, fretting corrosion indentations appear at the pitch circle of the steel balls.
