Reverse installation of bearings leads to unloading of contact ball bearings

Reverse installation of bearings leads to unloading of angular contact ball bearings

Factors to consider during installation:
Directional bearings must be installed in the correct direction to ensure proper functionality.

For example, the customized 6904ZZ can only withstand axial loads in one direction. If the bearing is installed in reverse, the axial load will be applied to the thin shoulder side of the inner ring, which will damage the bearing and generate more heat, leading to premature failure of the bearing.

Measures:
Ensure that the axial load is applied to the thick shoulder side during installation/assembly.

Improper fixing of 6904ZZ bearing

Improper fixing of bearings

Factors to be considered in design or installation:

In some applications, the fixed end bearing configuration includes a radial bearing and a thrust bearing.

If the axial direction of the radial bearing is fixed, it will bear axial loads, generate excessive combined loads, and cause the temperature of bearing 6904ZZ to be too high, which may lead to premature failure of the bearing.

If the axial bearing is fixed radially, it will bear radial loads, resulting in heavy or excessive combined loads, which will cause excessive temperature and the bearing may fail prematurely.

6904ZZ bearing inner hole cross positioning, transmission shaft cannot expand

Cross positioning of bearings prevents shaft expansion

Factors to be considered in design or installation:

If the bearing 6904ZZ is cross positioned and the expansion of the shaft is excessively limited, axial loads will be generated in both bearings.

This type of load can lead to excessive working temperature rise and increased friction torque.

This type of load may be significant and may cause premature fatigue and delamination of bearing 6904ZZ.

Measures:

Insert shims between the bearing seat and the end cap to leave sufficient clearance between the end cap and the outer ring end face, thereby avoiding axial preload on the bearing.

Only by determining the expected thermal elongation of the shaft can the required clearance between the outer ring end face of the bearing and the end cover of the bearing seat be determined.
