A high-performance robot servo motor bearing 6704zz

 

In recent years, driven by labor shortages and the increasing level of industrial automation, the market for servo motors used in robots has continued to expand. The servo motor is installed at the joints of the robot, which can accurately control the position and speed. Even under harsh working conditions such as high temperature and rapid acceleration and deceleration, it can achieve precise positioning. The bearings used in servo motors are located near key components such as encoders and brakes that are crucial for precise positioning (see Figure 1). There is a risk of grease or oil mist generated by bearings adhering to these components, which may result in encoder reading errors (caused by oil film adhesion), brake slippage, and other malfunctions, leading to robot shutdown. Therefore, the demand for low particulate matter emission bearings in the market is more urgent than ever before. Our factory meets this demand by using anti splash grease and high-level sealing performance.

New servo motor bearings

So far, the high-temperature grease we have used for bearings has been applied to servo motor bearings due to its low particle emission characteristics, and the bearing seal achieves excellent sealing performance with light contact. However, with the increasing demand for robot accuracy and reliability, bearings need to provide lower particulate matter emissions. For this purpose, we have developed high-performance bearings with low particulate matter emissions for servo motors to meet these requirements.

Composition, structure, and specifications of servo motor bearings

 

This new product is a deep groove ball bearing 6704zz designed specifically for servo motors, which uses newly developed lubricating grease and seals (see Figure 2).

To evaluate the low particulate emission performance, we used a customized testing machine. The device includes a glass disc used to simulate an actual encoder or brake unit, in order to reproduce the process of oil film adhering to the disc. The evaluation method includes placing a glass disk above the test bearing, rotating it for a specified period of time in a high-temperature environment, and then quantitatively evaluating the degree of contamination of the disk. The degree of pollution is quantified by calculating the ratio of the area of oil droplets attached to the disk to the total measured area of the disk. The testing conditions also include running in forward and reverse modes.

(1) Adopting a new type of high-temperature grease

We carefully selected the lubricant formula to provide excellent heat resistance and low volatility under high temperature conditions. In the disc pollution test, the particulate matter emissions of the new lubricating grease were only half of those of traditional lubricating grease. In the evaluation of the sintering life of lubricating grease, its anti sintering performance reached twice that of traditional lubricating grease (see Figure 3).

(2) Customized high-temperature waterproof sealing components

By optimizing the shape of the sealing lip (the leading edge where the seal contacts the inner ring), the new seal achieves both improved sealing performance and low torque. In the disc pollution test, its particulate matter emissions were only half of those of traditional seals, and the rotational torque was reduced by 10% (see Figure 4).
